Tools

Every quilter will agree that you need a few basic things before you can begin to quilt.

Fleamarket
  • Fabric
  • Rotary cutter or scissors
  • Ruller and tape masure
  • Cutting mat
  • Pins
  • Iron and board
  • Sewing machine
  • Good quilting thread (either hand or machine)

After gathering these things you will want to choose a pattern. There are many free quilt patterns on the internet or in books and magazines. Many beautiful patterns can be purchased at web sites like these.

Find something that intrigues you. I like to consider the ease of the pattern with how much time I have to finnish the project. I also like to push my skill level. Even if you are a skilled quilter there is always more to learn and  patterns that can challenge your ability.

If you have gathered all these tools and you have a pattern picked out you are ready to go.

Always wash your material as directed, before you make any cuts. Some fabric will shrink, or colors will run. You do not want to have all your hard work ruined because of an oversight of not pre-washing your fabric. It really is to heart breaking.
